This training in my Blog Design Secrets series will show you how to create a logo to personally brand yourself beautifully…
You might ask if that’s really necessary… I believe it is!…
Here’s why… If you are blogging under your name, and branding yourself it’s important to differentiate yourself from the rest of the crowd and step into your power by taking a leadership role. You can then use your logo on your blog, blog graphics, social media quotes, videos etc. By taking your personal branding to a further level by creating yourself a logo, you will also protect your visual content on social media.
Here’s how your logo will protect your visual content:
For example: One of your Facebook Fans loves an image quote you shared on your Facebook Page. They download the image and share it direct from their own page. Even with no direct link to you, there is still a possibility of people visiting your blog, because your logo on your images keeps directing people back to your blog.
I believe that your personality is your ultimate sales pitch and your face is unique to you (unless you have an identical twin). You really need to show your face off in your branding. You are your brand, so brand yourself beautifully!
Put your face everywhere, so people can get to know you, like/love you and trust you.
We’re about to start the logo design process… But first – Let me take a SELFIE!
Why? Well you know how I said I believe you need to get your face in front of your blog readers and your social media tribe? That doesn’t mean that you have to go out and spend a fortune getting a professional photo shoot. If you are just starting out online take a nice selfie with your smart phone and use that. Yep – a simple selfie can help you create a powerful brand across your whole online presence.
TIP: A selfie with a plain background (white works best and can be easily made transparent) is a great place to start your logo creation.
Btw, if you missed my previous blog posts about attracting your ideal customer, choosing colours and deciding on fonts for your blog and brand, be sure to go back and start at the appropriate place for you. There is no need to rush the design process.
Let’s get creative… I’ll show you how to create a LOGO to personally brand yourself
TIP: If you are using the fabulous Kalatu blogging platform, the ideal size for your logo is 360 x 115 pixels.
Canva is my personal favourite go to graphics tool. It’s ideal for me, i’m pretty arty but not trained on photoshop. It does everything I’ve needed so far and it’s easy to learn and demonstrate.
So why don’t I show you how I created my logo, and a few other ideas?
One thing I must stress… please don’t just copy what I am doing for quickness. Your blog has to be unique to you. I can show you some ideas and you can model them, but please add your own unique awesomeness and style. Also you want to stand out don’t you? There is no point of branding yourself if you are just copying someone. I spent time creating my own brand and you must do the same for yourself.
OK – rant over!
My logo is simply text and a circular ‘image holder’ with my selfie inside. The desired result I was aiming for was probably created in about 30 minutes.
TIP: I recommend having a light an dark version of your logo background for usage flexibility.
If however you aren’t confident in the graphics department, either follow my tips or outsource this to a designer on a site like Fiverr for example.
Before you give your brief to your designer, make sure you have decided on your personal image [selfie], colour code choices and specific fonts. You must also be so crystal clear on your ideal customer [Avatar] that you can convey this to your designer.
This will save you lots of time and money, going back and forth between you and your designer to discover your brand.
Here are a few logo design ideas I have come up with inside Canva… I want you to see how easy it really is…
So now go and take action now you know how to create a logo to personally brand yourself!
